How to Get Your Provisional Driving Permit (Learner’s License)

Ready to get behind the wheel? Here’s what you need to know to apply for your provisional driving permit, also known as a learner’s license.

If you are a citizen of Botswana:

• Valid Identity Card (Omang)
• Valid Eye Test Result (from DRTS, a government hospital, or a private hospital)
• 2 Passport-sized Photos
• P45.00 for the application fee

If you are a non-citizen:

• Valid Passport
• Valid Residential Permit
• Valid Eye Test Result (from DRTS, a government hospital, or a private hospital)
• 2 Passport-sized Photos
• P45.00 for the application fee

Important notes:

• A provisional driving permit is valid for two years.
• The fee for a duplicate provisional license is also P45.00.
